1. Vehicle to Vehicle Communication for a Platooning System Using CAN Bus
Vaishali Satish Pawar, Y. M. Patil
Abstract
This work describes about the communication between vehicles. The aim of this paper is to create a project which is helpful to drive vehicles in platoon. Platoon is known as road train. In Platoon system a manually driven Master vehicle is followed by many slave vehicles. The platoon forms a cooperative system where the each vehicle is sub-system. Zigbee wireless module is used to establish connection between vehicles. Zigbee is used to communicate data wirelessly such as speed, direction, braking and destination place of vehicle. Controller area network (CAN Bus) is fastest wired communication standard designed protocol used to communicate microcontroller and devices in vehicles with each other within a vehicle. Result show that when slave vehicle is entered into platoon system it will start following master vehicle and after exit it will not follow the instructions from master vehicle.

2. Amphibious Risk Management History of Shipping Industry
Gökçe Çiçek Ceyhun
Abstract
Risk management in the shipping industry can be defined as amphibious because of being effected by nautical and terrestrial business lines. The overall objective of this paper is to evaluate historical perspective of shipping risk management in three periods as; Great Depression, 1973 petrol crisis and 2007-2008 global financial crisis. In order to reach this aim, historical background of shipping industry and antecedents have been defined within literature review. The literature review has been concluded with shipping industry related concepts, contexts, and conjunctions. As a conclusion the study provides a basis for anticipating future directions in risk management of shipping industry.

3. Simple Sound Velocity Measurement System with Ultrasonic Distance Sensor
Yavuz Ozturk, Ozgun Boray Yurdakos
Abstract
In this study it was aimed to detect the certain type of gasses such as LPG according to the changes of sound velocity. The velocity of sound waves was measured by using a very simple ultrasound distance sensor and Arduino Uno microprocessor while monitoring the temperature of medium. The sound velocity of air and LPG measured and compared with calculated results at temperatures between 268 K to 298K . The observed results showed that this very simple setup can easily developed to determine gas leaks.

4. The Levels of the Participation Banks in Being Market-driven in Turkey
AhmetŞAHİN
Abstract
In this study, the levels of the participation banks in being market-driven in Turkey were tested. The notion "what I produce, that I sell", which existed in former years for organizations, has been replaced with the notion "What do customers want?" and "What should I produce to sell?" In order to answer such questions, organizations investigate the market in detail, collect information about customers and follow the policies of their opponents. These practices, which are called as "being market-driven", bring competitive advantages to organizations in this intense competition medium. In this context, questionnaires were applied to 118 senior-level managers working at participation banks acting in Turkey. As a result of the results obtained in the study, it was determined that the levels of the participation banks in being customer-focused, being opponent-focused, coordination between departments, and in general, in being market-driven were high.

5. Efficiency Assessment of the Tourism Performance of Turkey using Malmquist Productivity Index
Serpil Aydın, Talat Senel
Abstract
Tourism is the basis of the economy and the cultural development. Therefore, tourism is an important indicator of the development of countries. The arrival of foreign tourists for a country, temporary accommodation and travel in the country to various consumption expenditures will have growing effects on the economic and social structure of the country. The main objective of this study is to investigate and examine the impact of tourism on Turkey, over a period of 2006 – 2015.In this study, we used Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Malmquist Productivity Index methods. The data and tourism indicators used in the analysis were taken from Ministry of Culture and Tourism annual statistics reports. Finally, efficiency scores and rank of provinces are examined and evaluated.

6. Android Application Development for Calculating Basal Metabolic Rate and Daily Caloric Requirements Using Harris Benedict Formula
Erkan Yeşil, Gönül Yeşil
Abstract
Health is very important for human life. Fulfilling the nutritional requirements on a healthy and regular basis is fundamental for body health. The energy amount that human body needs in order to maintain its vital activities during resting is called basal metabolic rate. The formula which was developed by Harris and Benedict in 1919 in order to calculate basal metabolic rate still yields results most similar to the values calculated via calorimeter. In this study, a mobile application was developed in an attempt to calculate basal metabolic rate using Harris Benedict formula and to determine the daily caloric requirements of a person through this rate. This mobile application can be used in devices with Android OS. In the future studies, it is planned to extend the scope of the mobile application so as to include different nutritional studies, and to improve the structure of the application so as to suggest daily meals after evaluating the calculated caloric need with the data obtained from the user.
